Trev does Texas again 2015: Austin to Lamesa
Image: Arrival day, dust storm on Forrest Fest Eve
16.04.2015 – 75) 6:30 am the air’s warm
But chance of a rain storm
Knowin’ it might be comin’ I’ll be ready,
Then take it steady
So I’m on my way,
Day breakin’ I can see ahead clouds of grey
But not for long they soon passed along
Grey turns to blue sun comes out to shine, my drive starts goin’ fine
To the East rain clouds were seen, pools of water where they’d been
Like the sky had been cryin’ now they’re dryin,
So enjoy the drive, see the roadside flowers come alive
An’ take the time, at journeys end capture it all in rhyme
76) Headin’ for Lamesa, on the Panhandle Plain you’d find me
Also on the road were Thom and Bob
Maybe a couple of hours behind me
I woke when the birds were callin’ early start no time for stallin’
Roads quiet I was in luck no gettin’ stuck
Behind slow car or even slower truck
Now in Lamesa a cup of coffee’s just the job
An’ I’ll sit an’ wait for Thon and Bob
77) Long journey, inspiration for rhyme, an it’s also music time
Listen to whatever I choose, Gospel, Country or Blues
Of stations a choice, can listen to instrumental or singin’ voice
So whether I’m a poet or a peasant
It makes the journey much more pleasant
An’ as long as other drivers ain’t to rude
I’m sure I’ll arrive in a good an’ happy mood
78) Last KPET promo done now
Head to Darla’s for some good ol’ Texas chow
So good you wouldn’t believe, the ideal start for Forrest Fest Eve
Still hot sky still blue, the welcome here warm too
Then something’ surprising, big grey cloud on the horizon
Now thunders rollin’ across the plain, air coolin’ bringin’ threat of rain
Wind’s pitchin’ up as is the norm we’re lookin’ at another dust storm
But the evenin’s still long so let’s get on with the poetry an’ song
79) Wind dropped, dust storm stopped
On the porch we sit about,
Cos’ the thunder an’ lightenin’s taken the electricity out
An without light, I can’t write
So I’m outside this evenin’ time An yes I’m composin’ another rhyme
