Trev does Texas again 2015: McAllen to Austin
Image: I-37 from Live Oak County Rest Area
26.04.2015 – 129) From the hotel I’m about to alight
An’ I see to my delight
Breakfast room open so breakfast I’ll take
Means I’ve one les break to take
Perfect start to the day,
An’ take some fruit to eat on the way
Car stowed now hit the road
It’s northwards again I go an’ once again with a John Wayne “Yo”
130) Radio station 96.9 comin’ through fine
How a radio station should be family friendly an’ commercial free
An' When it’s out of range, to anther station I’ll change
Immigration control I didn’t play the fool
I just answered his questions and he replied “cool”
Then waved ne on my way an’ I wished him a nice day
Then gave the engine some gun as once more northwards I run
Keep within the limit, cos’ lookin’ in the mirror I find
In the car close behind
A State Trooper, an’ I don’t want to be a party pooper
He drives past an’ later I see
He’s pulled someone over, I’m glad it’s not me
New radio station music flowin’ an’ I’m really goin’
Sign says San Antonio 57 should be there before eleven
Road’s clear, progress makin’ no need for risk takin’
Soon San Antonio’s pas, an hour later Austin at last
So to the motel for my last nights stay
Unload then away to enjoy the remainder of my final day
It’s my will to find somewhere quiet and chill
Before I recite at Kick Butt on my final night
131) Taking myself away on my final day
Somewhere I can be at one with me
Off the beaten track, sun on my back
Hear the breeze blowin’ through the trees
Bringin’ the sounds of nature singin’
Takin’ stock watchin’ a squirrel scamper over a rock
Watchin’ the birds flyin’ free and being at one with me
132) Back at the motel resting on my bed
In readines for the night ahead
When it’ll be time to do my final rhyme
Shut my eyes a while, relax n’ smile
The call of sleep the stronger, they stayed shut longer
Than expected from my bed I ejected
Myself quicker than an Irish jig to get to my final gig
133) Final gig, final score back at the motel once more
Last night of my roam, tomorrow it’s the plane home
New friends made, new gigs found, once more broken new ground
All three Texas Poetry Festivals attended
More poems written n’ quite a few rendered
An tomorrow once again I’ll be homeward bound
