like water applied it has benefit

that cannot be denied.

Available in rolls for wiping and disposal

it flows along the gutters of spent force

and offers no proposal.

The memory of it is catastrophically short

and seeks to thrill like a dangerous sport.

At its best it's largely misunderstood,

with its blind eye turned

in  selfish mastery of naught but itself.

Picked about like a corpse dismembered

the goodness scooped out

and in repeatable form left on a shelf.
