message to a raped friend
Dignity is not in the vagina,
It's in who you are and what you've become,
Its in the memories made and those yet to come,
It's in every decision you're proud of,
And even in those you want to unmake,
In every smile and every kiss,
In every tear and angry hiss,
In promises kept and promises broken,
In every word you've ever spoken,
In how much you love yourself,
And even somebody else,
So how can it be something someone can loot?
So rape is really just the physical pain,
And all that is lost is some blood from your vain,
Take heart and smile, you're still alive,
Be happy and smie, you deserve every joy,
Don't give him a victory over your mind,
Don't give him a victory over your soul,
Know you are precious, no matter what you're told,
It's a cruel society yes,
But not all, are the same,
Trust me my darling, I don't,
Assign you, any blame,
Just hold on for the bright sunshine,
He has been cruel but fate can be kind,
One day you may be hurt, but the next you'll be fine
just hold on, you'll see bright a future shine

A bold and well-expressed message. I especially like the hard honesty about the physical rape and the need to transcend it emotionally and spiritually. And the assurance of 'blamelessness'.
