THEY'RE LEAVING HOME

The clothes hang in their wardrobe

asleep in drawers

shoes sit to attention

all ready for the needs of a day

      seasonal assortments.

      Their owners pass away

next of kin left with what's next to skin

they're leaving home.

Wardrobe empties

drawers a blank

shoes with their black holes of respect

and for what the next world forsakes

the third world awaits.
