The Dark & The Light
The Dark & The Light
This cruel winter
claims its marionettes
in a heartbeat.
The dark man
raised from the black rock.
Turning
as the glittering light
cascades over the road,
casting long shadows.
He sees a face
and then another
and then another,
a rainbow chameleon
changing with the wind,
never setting
always fluid.
Rebirth.
Lightning bolt.
striking features,
electric glamour
meets
thunderbolt,
booming bass
granite hewn.
The shadow
waits for the light
to catch him up.
Then the dark man
and the glitter elf
embrace
and continue
down the road
together.
A welcoming kiss
from the platinum spider
at the gate.
leaving the world
a darker
and lighter
place…

brilliant ian. i was devastated when i heard the news and still am now. as i said to my dad, everyone dies but for some reason i never felt bowie would. i felt the same when john peel died, days after i met him for the first (and only) time, after listening to his show every night for a decade. anyway, this is a moving and fitting tribute. you have really captured the changing faces of the man, and also the eccentricity. he was way ahead of his time, and most other times, and you have captured that too.
