Fierce Light, a poetry commission featuring Simon Armitage and Daljit Nagra exploring the first world war and its legacy, will be premiered on the opening night of the Norwich and Norfolk festival on Friday 13 May. This year marks the centenary of the battle of the Somme, and the Fierce LIght event has been co-commissioned by 14-18 Now, Norfolk and Norwich festival and Writers’ Centre Norwich. Armitage and Nagra will be reading their poems, alongside work by Yrsa Daley-Ward, Jackie Kay, Bill Manhire and Paul Muldoon, plus excerpts from a series of specially commissioned short films.
