Summer by the Sea
The eternal sun is shining brightly
Not a cloud to be seen in the sky
I am sat licking a cool ice cream
Remembering days long gone by
Children frolic on the shimmering shore
Sandcastles stand proud and tall
Deck chairs full of happy families galore
On a golden sandy beach one and all
It brings back distant forgotten memories
And rekindles the boy deep inside me
The joy thrill and expectation of
A summer by the sea
The foam crested waves come crashing in
As my mind swims against the tidal surge
Time marches relentlessly on and on
While I hope for a miracle to emerge
Alas I was caught in a wonderful daydream
I am nothing but a mere mortal man
But I have lived and the light I have seen
Just one small part of the planets masterplan
As the sky blue heavens brighten my day
I will reminisce and smile at the boy in me
Surrounded by the sights and sounds of
A summer by the sea
