Decision Made
We no longer rule the waves
We rarely show the Dunkirk spirit
We no longer free the slaves
With the strength to control with will
The turbulent forces surround us
And this earth does not stand still
No matter how splendid the idea might be
We'd drown in a sea of troubles
That's not a choice to me
We tried all that before
In more certain times, with loyal friends
Then turned to Europe to level the score
Democracy's a weak and feeble elf
Swamped by bureaucratic chatter
But is the answer to talk to oneself?
and sovereignty is the aim
Then can we really trust our own politicians
To improve the rules of the game?
For any political force
To cope with needs of humanity
And tackle each problem at source
Sensible arguments to be begun
But 60 years of peace tell me
Many heads can be better than one
Unseen dangers may lurk therein
So I'm choosing a ship, not a dinghy
I'm voting for staying in

I see many references to the unknown future of an "out"
vote yet surely the greater concern is what is ahead
within the EU - considering the insidious stealthy
creation of what is now a political supra-national entity.
The creeping ingestion of the various nation states is more
appropriate to a "python" than Major's tortuous analogy.
And why this fear of isolation when the wide world
watches and waits beyond?
To paraphrase an old saying:
Faint heart never won fair trade.
