What’s In A Name
A whatchamacallit, know what I mean?
Its name’s right there on the tip of my tongue;
A thingumabob, no nothing obscene,
I had the doohickey when I was young.
A doofus, I see it there in my mind,
It’s really familiar I’m sure you’ll find.
A widget for doing that difficult task;
A hoojamaflip, made just to make it
Perfectly simple, what more could you ask?
The ideal contraption, can’t deny it,
And with this wonderfully conceived device
You’ll surely get the job done in a trice.
A doobrie that’s fashioned to ease the chore,
Without having extraneous gubbins;
I don’t believe you could need any more,
The whatsit takes the famous blue ribbons.
In a world that favours stylish design,
This elegant whatnot seems so benign.
If I could remember the doodad’s name,
You’d soon understand why I think it’s great.
A cute little jigger, and it’s a shame;
There in my head and I can’t get it straight.
It’s not alone, there are quite a few more;
The older I get, I just can’t keep score!
