LOOK UP TO THE HEAVENS

Look up to the heavens

no life is there and yet

the wonderment

of God's fundament

comes down like rain

the more you stare.

Switch on your phone for confirmation

that life is in your hands

mysteries explained

that wondrous information to share,

for nothing ventured, nothing gained

that has not somehow come to earth

and so the young ones learn to stare

at the wonders of the digital birth.

An entertaining comment Colin ! for myself I am in awe of the whole phone thing and rather insecure to be frank. No judgement intended on the wider issue but I would say that living through the phone maybe can be a poor substitute for person to person interaction. Another facet of the escalating movements of people I suppose.

Fundament is a great word and useful as it rhymes with wonderment I looked it up myself and liked the idea!
Thanks for the follow up .

There's an app for that. It's great! Point your smartypantsphone at the night sky and it tells you what you're looking at. Erm, did I fall into a trap just then?

Thought provoking words Ray but I'm still not convinced this digital age is as bad as people make it out to be. We hold in our hands possibly the most incredible sliver of personal technology ever produced by man to date. No wonder we are mesmerised by its endless possibilities. Like God's fundament we are becoming Him and one day will supercede Him. Yikes, best not develop that thought.

Btw, I Googled 'fundament' and the formal humourous definition is 'a person's buttocks or anus'. Now I'm reading your excellent poem in quite a different way and laughing out loud. Sorry mate! Touch of verbal diarrhoea.
