BIGGER GULPS OF AIR (TAX AVOIDANCE FOR OTHERS)
I’ve been getting in a hissy fit – I’m talking fiscally
About this tax avoidance thing that’s at the BBC,
With names that span Beeb 1 and 2 and Radio’s FiveLive
Who may have breached the rules concerning IR35;
And judging by the “tutting” of my fellow FaceBook chums
It seems that I am not alone in turning down my thumbs.
The thrust of allegations and these righteous Beeb attacks
Is many people seem to get away with paying tax.
I stamp my feet and paddy, “It’s immoral and unfair
While smaller fry like you and I get littler gulps of air”.
I gift-aid small donations to my favourite charity
And took my pay-off free of tax from my redundancy
And also on the PILON I received that self-same time;
This surely’s not considered in any way a crime?
Of course, I save myself in several ISAs, TESSAs, PEPs;
And planning for retirement I had taken prudent steps
With pensions contributions from my monthly salary
And when I take my lump sum this will likewise be tax-free.
BUT THIS IS NOT THE POINT AT ALL! It really is unfair
That others benefit far more with bigger gulps of air.
