Bang Said The Gun plans nationwide tour next year

entry picture

The uproarious poetry night Bang Said The Gun is embarking on a national tour in 2017. The popular spoken word event – think poetry plus party games - which was established by co-founders Dan Cockrill and Martin Galton as an antidote to “dreary poetry and even drearier poetry nights”, began in a pub in Soho, moved to riotous weekly nights in the Roebuck in south London, and is now staged monthly for sell-out audiences at the Bloomsbury theatre in London.

The nationwide tour, from March to July next year, will take in Stafford, Sheffield, Leeds, Colchester, Fareham, Durham, Salford, Brighton, Canterbury, Aldershot and Hull. Meanwhile monthly shows will continue at the Bloomsbury theatre as well.

Bang Said The Gun has had films broadcast on Channel 4 and an anthology, Mud Wrestling With Words, published with Burning Eye Books. The show has also played to audiences in the north-west with Bang Said The Gun: Manchester and across the Atlantic with Bang Said The Gun: New York.

Additional Bang hosts include Rob Auton (shortlisted for Arts Foundation spoken word award and former Glastonbury poet in residence) and Laurie Bolger (shortlisted for Young Poet Laureate for London and former Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park poet).
