I Stand Exposed

I stand exposed

Staring myself in the face,

my life a polished surface,

a mirrored oubliette.

reflecting my choices

reflecting my mistakes

I stand enraged,

at the futility

of it all.

Snarling and spitting

in impotent anger

I am a toothless dog,

A cat caught in a cage.

I stand corrected,

lies detected.

The veil of deception

torn from my eyes

at it's first conception.

I stand tall,

I refuse to fall!

Assailed from all sides

tossed by the tides.

My life exposed.

My anger risen.

My eyes opened

to falsehoods' prison.

I stand

still.

Still, I stand.

Thank-you both for the positive comments! I wasn't sure if I liked it myself at first, I mainly wrote it just to put the word 'oubliette' into a poem :-)

The sentiment grew around that!
