I JUST LOVE MONDAYS

entry picture

(Without question, the best day of the week)

The replacement hip Gives me some jip

And my Tens just overflowed

I need Deep Heat For arthritic feet

In winter when it’s snowed

And drivers reprimand me

For shuffling across the road

But I still have reason To enjoy each season

For the rest of the time I’m owed.

I’ll tell you why I Just love Mondays

I’ll tell you why I Just love Mondays

I’ll tell you why I Just love Mondays

Cos it’s true, oo oo oo oo oo

No-one’s around

Cos it makes me grin When you’re all packed in

On morning commuter trains

When I’m still in bed With my dreaming head

On the pillow where it’s lain

Or you’re head to toe in tailbacks

On a motorway’s three lanes

See, I’ve got good reasons I’ve got bloody good reasons

To shun this stress and strain

Which is why I Just love Mondays

Yes, this is why I Just love Mondays

I’ll tell you why I Just love Mondays

Cos it’s true, oo oo oo oo oo

No-one’s around

I can ride for free On the 403

When it’s after half past nine

Take a lazy walk Through the streets of York

Cos the city’s then all mine, all mine

I can lunch in the grounds of the Minster

Washed down with a Beaujolais wine

Where you see no people Cos the race-race people

Are at their daily grind…

Which is why I Just love Mondays

Which is why I Just love Mondays

I’ll tell you why I Just love Mondays

Cos it’s true, oo oo oo oo oo

No-one’s around

Yes, it makes me smirk When you’re all at work

When I, these days, am not

And of course it’s cool With the kids in school

To enjoy the peace I’ve got

So keep the nation turning

And envy my chosen lot

And did I mention That I get a pension

For doing diddley-squat

Which is why I Just love Mondays

This is why I Just love Mondays

I’ll tell you why I Just love Mondays

Cos it’s true, oo oo oo oo oo

No-one’s around

You're better listening to this with ear muffs on, Paul.

Hi John, I've only just managed to listen to this. Funny, funny, funny idea, chock full of humour. Just back from Lugsavers ?

Thanks for your thoughts, Randall. It's half-original - a bit like being half pregnant. It's obviously The Boomtown Rats's "I Don't Like Mondays" parodied for an Old Git.
As for my good singing - is there a hearing equivalent of Specsavers?

Am I missing something? Is this an original composition, cause it's amazing! Loved it from the first chord to the last note. Excellent singing voice- a working-class voice that has earned the right to sing this song!! Props to you! Mad props!! ??

Oh, Bob! I mean, John..

..a very clever--almost anathematic-- take on an old fav' of mine.

Presumably at my attempt at singing it, Colin?
