Small town boy
I was born in small town, just outside the City
Always dreaming bigger then my fellow neighbor
Running down the dark streets for newspaper labor
Washing dirty windows for elder folks pity
Saving cents at a time, for investment dollars
Learning the ropes from books, teaching the simple skills
Asking my own network with their precious old wills
Without over reaching towards wise old scholars
Making a small fortune but never forgetting
That the roots of my town run deep in my warm veins
Giving back was a dream with my tremendous gains
Becoming its leader through my selfless sweating
The mayor for the people, looking at the bright side
Political nature for the good certified
