Those old politicians

once so full of promise

they all had political leanings

left or right

sympathies with flow and flair

some imagined a purpose

all adopted a cause of sorts

assembling on the benches of

altercation and derision

astride a striding edge

of contorting exposition 

 

each and every one of them

with their minds to the grinding wheel

polishing half truths

with noble force bent back

from going on the defensive

then going on the attack.
