Dawn
Dawn
Before a landscape devoid of shapes
darkness a concealing cloak
a blanket, a covering draped
Then there edges a glimpse of light
nudging a soporific world
A soundless explosion soon unleashed
a brilliance emblazoned, all pervasive
all consuming in its might
A star of indefinable shape
golden, searing and searching all about
The earth, sky and sea transformed
into rich colours of their own given identity
A searching light entering
crevices and gullies usually out of sight
A skulking shadow tastes its scan
from which every infamy flees
A warmth, a friendship of assurance
advances life, impells its growth
Vision restored and enhanced
enriched to capture all reality
The sun is up, it has risen
from a prison behind dark bars
the phanton of night to banish
to send scurrying away
all that is dark and sinister
All is laid bare on a fitting stage
the magnificence and splendour
which is our temporary abode
A gift, a blessing and a respite
The sun, our star brings forth abundant light
