2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: Austin to Lamesa
Image: One of the reasons for making an early start, nice clear roads, this is the road between Llano and Mason, I should have turned of it for Brady but turning right in Mason led me to Brady and it was only a matter of a few minutes difference. Speed limit is 75, as can be seen in the poem, because it's quiet there is the choice of making progress or enjoying the scenery.
18.04.217 – 94) It’s gettin’ light, luggage is stowed right
Then away, let’s roll, don’t worry about the road toll
On the 183 it all went fine, then turn left onto the 29
Roads clear and I soon find Burnet an’ Llano are soon behind
But something I hadn’t done, tat was turn right on to 71
No need for fright, carry on to Mason an’ then turn right
On 87 somewhere I haven’t been, somewhere new to be seen
An’ the speed limit says 75, quiet road let my drivin’ come alive
Brady an’ Eden soon through but then I gotta slow
Beware the traffic cops in San Angelo
Then across the Panhandle Plain, pick up speed again
Sun shining it’s a delight, shining on a familiar sight
New road system at Big Spring I wasn’t bereft
GPS said “straight on then turn left”
87 crosses I20 and I take time out for a meal break
Meal done final run, get there to play my part
At The Forrest Fest in Lamesa
That little West Texas town that took me to its heart
95) I’d driven from Austin to Big Spring till I found out,
I’d been wearing my tee shirt inside out
An’ nobody did say, at stops along the way
Were they bothered, I guess not and I suppose,
This is Texas where anything goes
