2017 and Trev goes to Texas for a 7th time: Lamesa to Austin
Image: Budget Host motel car park, just before sunrise, the car is loaded, after taking this picture I was away. It's always a beautiful part of the day, so quiet.
23.04.2017 - 117) The sun’s still down,
I’m leavin’ Lamesa town
But the East horizon hue tells me sun up’s nearly due
An’ I know I’ve a fair way to go
So no hesitation, gentle acceleration to reach the speed I need
Big Spring I’m nearin’ the suns appearin’
Bathing the land with its glow, it’s goin’ to be hot I know
But I got air conditionin’ no need to frown,
An’ if that fails I wind the windows down
Once again take it slow goin’ through San Angelo
Brady down to mMson the way I came
Not the usual way, but I’ll take some new pictures today
To Llano through Burnet an’ I’m slowin’ low fuel warnin’ light’s showin’
Gas station found, once more I’m bound
To Austin, my motel, book in, unload an’ away
To the library, check my e mails from home an essential part of my roam
Relax in the sun before day is done
Then to an open mic at Kick Butt I’m away
What better ending to a road poets day
118) Kick Butt my final time this year to do my rhyme
Began with a couple of jokes, about two of my fellow travelin’ blokes
Then two poems from the Holy Land went well
Two more an’ they were knowin’
About our Forrest Fest tribute to Leonard Cohen
My last as to why, I didn’t mind bein’ called “Limey Guy”
Ending with “God willing see you next year”
When once again they’ll say “it must be April, Trevor’s here”
