Bring Back The Good
No comfort for a nation in turmoil
No condolence, for the cries
Just a half hearted, " stop it "
Are the only replies
From an election of ugly
To uglier now it seems
As a counrty of promise
Loses it's hopes and dreams
For there are so many
Who simply do not care
That they have thrown their neighbors
Into chaos and despair
Values that once united
Seem no longer to be found
While what hurts and divides
Are erupting and abound
Battles long ago fought
Now surface once again
And open up old wounds
That tear the hearts of men
So many groups centered
On self for what would be
Giving up the " for all "
To the desire of me, me, me
But though saddened by the conflict
And wearied by the fight
We can not lose our counrty
To hatred, fear and might
We must rally within us
What is right and good
And treat one another again
With love and respect, as we should
So the golden rule of, do unto others
As you would have them, do unto you
Needs again to become
Our way of life and view
