Left Behind
Most of them are just social climbers.
Most of them are just pocket liners.
Whatever colour there rosettes glow.
I lost my trust in most along time ago
Be them centre ground, far left or right.
They serve themselves day and night.
The decent ones few and far between.
The rest may as well be one big team.
Just in it for themselves so often I find.
While 'the man in street' is left behind.
That 'man in the street' I'm proud to be.
But most politicians mainly overlook me.

All systems demand a price and the weakness is human
ambition and its desire to "succeed" - corrupting to
a degree that, when it becomes known, is held up as
endemic in its range to undermine the good work of others.
Those who have served in public life understand its
reality and rise above the indiscriminate generalisations
aimed in their direction by the disaffected and dissatisified
to soldier on undeterred, albeit occasionally disappointed by
the lack of faith and the recognition they deserve.
