The Royal Free
The Royal Free hums its energetic life
As I sit musing in my garden
A background drone always there
As the hospital is always open for care
It's summer so the trees mask its physical presence
Just the joined up sound of health and excellence
We moved here with two small boys
And thought being near The Free might be handy
Energetic boys in an energetic city
Who knows the cuts, bashes and bumps that would need its care
Decades in now and only minor scrapes, but always efficient whenever there
The staff spill out lunch and evenings
Always bright and cheerful despite hours of pressure
A caring group in a caring profession
Born to care, born to love, born to cherish
Not at all born to run
But definitely when free of The Free
Born for Fun
