You Can
You can be alive, without knowing what it means to live.
You can share without knowing what it is to give.
You can say I love you and never know the feeling.
You can be healthy without ever really healing.
You can take what's not yours and never admit it's stealing.
You can say a word a million times, but that won't make it true.
You can say the sky is red, all the while knowing it's blue.
In this world there are few, who have never told a lie.
Those whose patience and faith never waiver, while they're trembling inside.
Those who truly have nothing to hide.
I am not one of these, anomalies.
Just a face in the crowd that never knows when to cry in shame or to be proud.
My world remains, dark and gray, covered with this cloud.
A cloud of hate and hope, trust and betrayal.
Simply a tragic never ending tale.

In our journey through this life, we have to make choices.
We are "all things to all men" - ceaselessly adjusting our
attitudes and behaviour to meet the occasion and its
perceived demands. Lying can be socially acceptable if
it spares someone unnecessary pain (as long as the law is not abused), and we have the luxury as human beings
- with even a modicum of intelligence - to know when
that is the case.
