Going within -- and without.
Looking out into my back garden I see the quiet rolling hills and fields beneath. Above them a flock of kites hover, scanning the land for dinner.
I watch them with a sense of detachment,
pre-occupied with the matter of love and relationships.
It’s funny how we hear so much about strong attachments,
deep affection, devoted faithfulness and unbridled passion.
Then as a kite swooped to snatch his prey it made me pause
then transport me beyond the dreary republic of the body.
It lifted me on wings of splendour to the sphere of compassionate, unconditional love.
Dwelling on the virtues of compassionate love I begin to see that it purifies, renews and strengthens one’s body and soul.
It arouses and awakens the infinite possibilities that the universe has for me.
The ocean never ever says “two glasses of water is all I can give you!”

That is true patience and care but as long as it's reciprocated. One cannot keep giving an ocean of affection in exchange for mere glasses in return.
