Stand Amongst Mountains
Stand amongst mountains where the wind is in song
Close to the heavens where we all belong.
Stand amongst mountains where the air’s always fine
Close to the streams that taste like wine.
Stand amongst mountains mighty and pure
Solid and firm reaching high into azure.
Stand amongst mountains where day is first to break
Close to the bastions which day is last to forsake.
Stand amongst mountains shoulder to shoulder
Share the solid spirit of rock and boulder.
Stand firm and square against all adversity
Inspired by the mountains virtuosity.
Stand amongst the mountains of your fellow men
Close to the havens of love and zen.
Stand amongst mountains four square with your friends
Stand noble and bold and fight until all battle ends

The theme strikes a chord with my own experiences - whether inspired by being high above a distant valley or comforted by the dependable strength of friends. Anyone
who has been in a high place in body or spirit will know the
wonderful sensation of somehow being raised up to a level
beyond the limits of their usual existence. I sense this in
the lines of this poem.
