Power of Thought
When was it that you last saw
an obese academic?
A fat captain of industry,
an overweight mechanic?
Ah, perhaps there’s something there,
in relation to vocation,
or maybe we see, more clinically
a theme throughout our nation
that revolves around intelligence,
or at least the use of brains;
the calorie consuming box
that prevents unsightly gains.
For can it be coincidence
that this group are largely lean;
modest amounts of flabby bits,
what can this really mean.
Whereas look upon the menials,
destined for basic chores,
excessive from their slothful life,
their high BMI scores.
It’s not because they sit about
whilst others run around,
them breaking only sofas whilst
others are breaking ground,
it’s simply due to lack of thought,
a dull redundant mind,
surely that’s most obvious,
and not me being unkind.
Forget the genes and upbringing,
of course they play their part,
but activity, it seems to me
of the mind will help the heart.
So “think, employ that sodden mass,
imagine yourself thin”
is what I say to lardy bums,
start here, commence, begin!
