The Big Three

Hello depression!

Long time no see, right?

It’s like I just saw you yesterday…

Oh wait. It was just yesterday.

And the day before that,

And the weeks before that….

I wake up every morning

With you on my chest.

Making my lungs feel heavy

So heavy, they are.

So heavy that i cannot breathe.

I push you away while,

I get ready for school.

Hoping today will be different,

Praying that i won’t get bullied again.

Your sister, Anxiety, slithers across my mind

As i leave to catch the bus.

Planting the ‘what if’s’ so deep in my mind

That your brother, Fear, makes himself known.

Fear is who makes me sweat.

Fear is who makes me freeze in my tracks

Wondering if i should just go home today.

To try again tomorrow.

But no, if i give into you now

I will surely die.

I push you all away

As i head to my first class of the day.

I plug in my headphones

Turning the volume on high.

So i don’t have to hear the words

Whispered around me, and about me.

I watch the ground as i walk

To avoid the glares of the haters who hate me.

Strong and true, with real literary tools brought into play. You are a student of both life and writing technique, a strong combination for power to influence. Your sense of drama and vocabulary is a huge asset. Keep reading everything from all arenas and periods, and hone your skills every day. Get books about writing, especially from second-hand bookstores, or church fair stalls, university book sales where the students sell text books for pennies etc. Maybe they don't want them anymore, but they will be precious to you. I think you are self-motivated; go with it. Get famous! Or at least well-known, and paid for it.

Turtle- your words had me fooled but upon rereading them it seeped in. An awful existence cleverly portrayed. Tommy
