That Tomorrow
Global warming
Ozone breakdown
Melting ice
Animal extinction
Islands lost to sea
Tsunami
Shifting plates
Lava flow
That tomorrow’s today away
That tomorrow’s today away
A child is born
Cry of uncertainty
Tear in mother’s eye
Searing heat
Unforgiving wind
Fly’s swarm
No rain, only pain
Crops fail, again
No food, no milk
Infant die
That tomorrow’s today away
That tomorrow’s today away
Low income
Job cuts
State benefit
Credit crunch
Need cash
Food on table
Loan sharks circle prey
Rising crime
Selling drugs
Prostitution
Three part time jobs
Bills seeing red
Creditors in bed
Bailiffs
Repossession
Don’t worry its ok!
The total bankers get their bonus!
That tomorrow’s today away
That tomorrow’s today away
Child adopted, no choice, only choice
Child abandoned, no money to feed
Child sold to slavery
Child sold to science
Child sold to paedophilia
Child beaten
Child becomes carer
Child gets postcode education
Child dealing parents drug and alcohol abuse
Child slips social service net
That tomorrow’s today away
That tomorrow’s today away
Rich country’s living off poor countries
Cheap food
Cheap labour
Paying/Giving them just enough to live on
Third world saddled with massive debts
Where are to tools to enable them?
Its modern enslavement
Let’s spend trillions, send man to the stars
Let’s spend trillions on weapons of mass destruction
It’s much better than clearing third world debt " isn’t it?
That tomorrow’s today away
That tomorrow’s today away
Prophecies from back in the day
The end of the world is;
2012: Mayan Calendar
2014: Pope Declaration
2028: Mystical Number 666i
2028: Asteroid 1997 XF11
2280: Quran Code
3797: Nostradamus
Pick any date from then until now
Mankind’s up for a bit of self-destruction
That tomorrow’s today away
Those tomorrow’s are for some, today
Can you smell the coffee, yet?

Hi Phil,
this one really fired me up. It feels like an angry poem in some ways. Very different to your usual style and good too.
It's the end of the world every day for someone.
Janet.
