The Eagle and the Star

The Eagle and the Star

Where the Holy One of God once stood

amongst places with names well understood

Where He came to bring peace and love

to make here on earth as it is above

We see an incestuous land of hate

where it now seems all too late

Injustice flourishes like rampant nettles

fuelled by those from afar who have settled

A conspiracy borne out of pity and greed

has left many souls homeless and in need

Those whose relationship is of power and might

live in daily fear of those within easy sight

They have cheated, dispossessed and lied

but to the occupier woe betide

Settlements are built on lofty places

leaving little for those with diminished spaces

You cannot take what is not rightfully yours

especially when it rests on different shores

There is no grey area for debate

the star in ascendancy is the star of hate

The Holy One has seen it all

and not through some crystal ball

Hello David,

Thank you as ever for your valuable comment which I do appreciate. The history of the sitauation you now face each day is complex indeed. Jews and Arabs are both Semetic peoples which is often not clearly understood by the media and others at large. The State of Israel created in 1948 was built on an existing Jewish population of approxiamately 7% of the indigenous population which in the main were Palestinian Arabs, Muslims and Christians. The State of Israel despite, having its own vocal opposition, has actively encouraged settlement from abroad and those who have taken advantage of this offer are culpable, to some extent, in the policies of the Government. This Government has pursued over many years overt hatred and discrimination against Palestinians.

David, I respect your courage and views which I know are based on experience. Take good care. Maybe one day we can meet up for a drink together as I am certain we would have a great deal to talk about.
Keith
