A Roof Terrace

A Roof Terrace

A garden wreathed in early morning sunlight

A summit amongst others in varied shape and appearance

A stairway leads the way through a shaft of light

Then one arrives to see the world about, a new day

In the strreets below as people come and go

Roof tops, awnings recede into the distance

This is my domain of solitude and space

Here I read, write and paint and listen to music

Here I survey ocean and mountains

here the sky becomes a canopy of splendour

forever changing as clouds drift by

A vista imcomparable and unique

My thoughts are planted here

amongst the oleander, hibiscus and bougainvillea

A trellised wall provides modest privacy

a breeze forever caresses as do waves on a shore

Friends sometimes join me for afternoon tea

but in this solitude, in this well of nature

is where I breathe the clean unpolluted air of inspiration

In the northern distance the volcano

sits in majestic splendour

dormant on an earth of hidden lava

It speaks of an immense power

concealed oft in a peak covered in wisps of snow

as icing on an idyllic cake

Beneath are the roots of our existence

Sounds like you've made a Teide (tidy!) life for yourself
there. I can see why you're content with your lot,
hoping nature doesn't say "How are ya" (pronounced
Hawaii). ?

Hello Brian,
it is Teide but happily dormant for over 200 years. I water it occasionally Thanks

Just pray the volcano remains dormant Keith. Is it Teide?
