Escaping the Clouds

The water ripples into peaks as the winds picks it up and slashes it into the rocks

Each peak glistens like snow on a mountain top, like diamonds on black felt

The waves crash into the shoreline forcing the moss to spread into the crystal blue water

Another gust of wind comes, bringing the smell of pine and freshly cut grass arising my senses

Grass and weeds line the waterfront, softly swaying back and forth as the wind pushes and pulls

The soft rub of the grass while the waves reach the rocks; it’s soothing; its surreal

Its quiet, but not still; It moves, slowly, softly, peacefully, like a crane in the water

The sun shines down touching the surface of my skin, wrapping me in enough warmth to feel at home

There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than here in this moment

As I look across the water I can see a little boy fishing with his father

His carefree smile makes the sun shine that much brighter

To laugh and to love without a worry, to experience the world in a way of innocence

He reminds me of what the world is when I stop, for just a moment, and look across the lake

He reminds me of where this feeling came from, where I came from, why I’m here

The land doesn’t seem so dark anymore, the clouds have moved to allow my skin to warm yet again

The crashing of the water has slowed, allowing my eyes to catch every moment, every sound, every movement

Breathing in the fresh air creates a tingle down my neck

This place was made for me; this place was made for us

It’s where I go to escape the clouds, to return to you

You made this my serenity, you showed me the sun; you slowed the waves; you wrapped me in warmth

This is where you have my heart, my soul, my every being

You are the glistening peaks, the soft rub of the grass; you are the light breeze, the smile on a young boy

You make the storms disappear and the world a better place

You are where I always want to be
