Rock Throwers

entry picture

Preamble

This poem  comes from a letter which appeared in our local paper

Rock Throwers

We've got kids here who are throwing rocks down

On cars as they go and pass under

And when they get caught, we think and reflect

What sentence they'll get, yes we wonder

Don't worry, we've got it worked out

They'll diagnose mental disorder

Which of course must be taken into account when it comes

To sentencing them with a court order

This blog took me straight back to the time when Welsh miners were in action against perceived blacklegs and some
set out one early morning to a bridge over a motorway from which they pitched a lump of concrete on to a hire car
carrying workers, killing the driver.
They were given a derisory sentence for manslaughter
(which ,we should remember carried a maximum life term)
for their clearly planned (e.g. premeditated!) attack, which
seemed to reflect official policy not to exacerbate the
industrial unrest and its political/social relevance.

Brian

I think you would qualify for mental disordership with all the things you throw around the site

Don ?

Keith - A brickbat is a disparaging remark. An example of this would be "Keith get yourself a new dictionary!"

Brian, What is a brickbat? Sorry, I have just this minute looked this up in my dictionary. I never would have thought this possible of you. I imagine you to be a pillar of society.

Don I used to throw rocks but I've progressed to brickbats.

Don,
A brief poem which reflects today´s society. It certainly happens in the UK. I once recall being on a train when it stopped outside a station so that a supermarket trolley could be removed from the tracks. Some half baked lout had thrown it over the bridge. Apparently large chunks of concrete are also used as they easily smash windscreens and kill the driver and occupants. A suspended sentence perhaps?
Thank you for this
Keith
