The Lions Den (dark, but true)

entry picture

The Lions Den (dark, but true)

Preamble

This was reported in our local paper

What I'm about to say

Is a lesson to observe

That crime it never ever pays

You get what you deserve

Poachers they broke into

An African game reserve

To kill a herd of rhinos

Their greed for them to serve

A pride of lions saw them

And paid them for their crime

They didn't live to find out

Their crime result in time

The moral of this story

Is don't enter their den

Intent on any mischief

Or else you'll meet your end

Somehow the comments on this particular piece seem to have gone off track. It would be good to re-focus perhaps.

Hey Joyti

It's interesting you make no reference to a positive comment I made to Tina's Cherokee Winds

"Gosh, I like this Tina. 'rivery meadows', 'shadowing moons'
-superb"

Go forward into the dark my girl(?) boy(?). I careth not.

BTW. You say my comment in "Ode to Depression' has been removed? Either you've got bad eyesight or forgotten to put your glasses on. Maybe the big bad depression monster's got a hold of you and you're lookin' at the wrong poem? It's in this year's folder...

Joyti - from educator to pupil ?

It seems you have it in for me
I wish you all the luck
I have a band of followers
You're gonna have to duck

They'll stand beside me all the way
And arrows that you zip
Poison tipped or otherwise
They'll return them on their trip

Bango! (direct Joyti hit folks...down but not out...bother)

Never mess with a rhymer Joyti
You never know what's in their box
Like Jack it might jump out at you
And bite you like a fox

I note you sent me a private email
Giving me a kick in the pants
If you wanna go wallow in doom and depression
(Go ahead be my guest....)?

There are none so blind as those who will not see. An educator? Well you certainly are that for some, they’re swallowing it.

I saw the report about this event. I was reminded of the
filmed version of the infamous lion kills that occurred during
the building of a railroad in Africa - "The Ghost and The Darkness". Clearly, these misguided (in more senses than
one) souls suffered what could be termed "poetic justice".

How could you be so stupid as to enter a game reserve with lions roaming around? One word - greed

Brian

Yes, I've got a few claw marks trying to keep the savage beasts in check the other day. They tried to swipe at me but I calmed them with soothing language. I now have them purring like lambs and under my spell. Hey, a record number of comments. Must be doing something right...

They breed us tough down here. I'll see what dirty dark doozies I can dig up. (Reckon EAP would be happy associated with such darkness and this larrikin?...)

Thanks Anya. Just thought I'd do a bit of 'dark but true' to show I'm not afraid of the dark. If I can learn what to avoid from the dark I'm happy. I will, and am I'm happy to face the dark. It's when I feel myself sliding closer to it's precipice I begin to worry. Guess it depends how strong your self-discipline is.

My last post was good in many respects. It produced a variety of comments, whether one agreed with them or not. What are we here for anyway Anya? For intellectual interaction, tossing ideas around, bouncing ideas off each other, standing up and speaking our bit but being able to bend with the winds which could result.

My career was as an educator. As such it is in my blood to want to explain, help, guide (at times I get carried away and am interpreted as 'pushing' or 'dictating'). I thought this Lions Den one educated about something most would not have heard about, had a good moral behind it, and although dark, was true. To be kind Anya I left out the gory remainder of the report. Just use your imagination.

Don ?
