WORK
In the old days
a job meant you went to a location
punched in
worked a solid 8 hours or more
got 30 minutes for lunch
got told what to do and when to do it
got a paycheck every two weeks
got a day off for Christmas
got a handshake when job was done
got a gold watch when you retired
a far cry from what work is today
no one goes to work
now work is home-based
it's casual
it's occasional
it's time spent on the computer
it does the work
work is unsupervised
work is mobile
there is no office or location
there is no loyalty
I am used to the old ways
and cannot fathom how a job is a job
if nothing is produced except
texts or e-mails
communication is the product
what a transformation
we are living in a new world
without borders or boundaries
and work is just something that happens
with the push of a button
the tap of a key
no set parameters and no set time
why go to work
when you can work from home
in your shorty pajamas
no uniform
no tie
no problem
just hit Send
check's in the mail.

Exactly how I feel . . . nothing is real anymore. Your poem says it all.
Enjoyable read.
