WORD MARKET FESTIVAL 2008
Word Market celebrates the written word through a programme of exciting, live events and projects throughout the year.
As well as an annual festival, we hold regular workshops, master-classes and performances – with well-known poets, best-selling authors, publishers, literary agents and theatre directors.
Word Market has something to offer all ages, abilities and interests.
Word Market – for people who love words.
Introduction
Dear Readers and Writers
So excited am I to be introducing WORD FESTIVAL 2008 that I can hardly get the words onto the page quickly enough.
There is something for everyone in this feast of a festival and if you are suffering from writer’s block, lack of inspiration or general winter blues, you have come to the right place.
Would you like to spend an evening with JOANNA TROLLOPE, or a writing day with JANE ROGERS? How about writing radio drama with ZOSIA WAND (to be held in February and March) or, if writing children’s picture books is more your style, a workshop with PAUL DOWSWELL?
Should you prefer to be entertained or inspired without the need to work hard, pop along to a ‘MORNING COFFEE READING’ at Ulverston Library or a ‘LUNCHTIME SOUND BITE’ at the Coronation Hall.
We are delighted to welcome back JACK BRADLEY, this year as guest speaker at the Oxen park Cinema Club evening, where “Notes on a Scandal” will be viewed and discussed.
‘A Poem and a Pint’ night will be enhanced by the quality poetry of MATTHEW SWEENEY, and, should you need an excuse for an additional pint, take yourself along to any of the participating hostelries to watch the “PUB SCRIPTS” being performed.
If this wasn’t enough, there’s ‘STORYTELLING SATURDAY” and “LYRICAL SLAMS” with Apples & Snakes.
So, there you are. Something for all readers and writers, morning, noon and night for a whole week and more. Please accept this invitation to cast off any winter blues, have some fun and be inspired by the power of words. For full details please see http://www.wordmarket.org.uk/
Welcome to the WORD MARKET FESTIVAL 2008.
