It rained on Market Day

It rained on Market Day

As we arrived the first drops fell

the stall owners were very keen to sell

Fresh veg from many local farms

across the road stood the Kings Arms

Umberellas soon began to mushroom

which made for far less room

Soon the rain became quite heavy

some folk went to the pub for a bevy

Tarpaulins and coverings were laid

to cover much of what was hand made

Punters wandered to and fro

as if there was plenty of time to go

Then came a sudden roll of thunder

which came from some place far off yonder

Many decided to head for home

as it was no longer prudent to roam

Then the market came to an abrupt end

despite those with plenty of money to spend
