The querulous question the responsibility of the ultimate
decision of "self-defence". It can only give succour to the
less scrupulous who harbour no such inhibitions and are guided by different lights. By all means hold that any such
decision is a last resort (probably quite literally) but allow
potential foes no leeway by waving a self-righteous banner
proclaiming "not by me".
