Welcome to my Parlour
Welcome to my Parlour
If you walked into my house and I was not there
your would soon discover that it was not so bare
Everything that you would so easily see
would speak so very eloquently of the real me
It is a house of oddments where little does match
and at an intital glance not all can be snatched
Wall units vary in shape, size and colour to behold
from the horribly modern to the extremely old
Dozens of books line the many makeshift shelves
and sit waiting in attendance like garden elves
Volumes of theology, philosophy and poetry do abound
most of which lay scattered around
Paintings and portraits do compose my gallery
and on the dining table a vase full of celery
Empty bottles of wine and a few glasses too
to move the dogs one has to say shoo
The quilted sofa is draped in dower victorian splendour
with a laced edged antimacassar bought from a local vendor
Ornaments of value, exquisite and tall
are complemented by cheap replicas which are quite small
This room, this principal abode
has an elegance and sophicticaton to hold
It is here and what you see before you
that paints the portrait of me so true
