My Very Disjointed Theme Contribution
Preamble
This Saturday's Rhymers Club theme is about weddings. Brian is otherwise engaged so I have agreed to rent him some space.
My Very Disjointed Theme Contribution (by Don Matthews)
This week's theme is weddings
Cos weddings in the air
Which sorta gives me problems
Forgotten I was there
Now do not get me wrong
I'm married, still attached
It's just I can't remember
The day that we got latched
But hiding in the cupboard
Encased in plastic wrap
Are special memories hiding
Our wedding cake brings back
There's one thing I remember
(Funny how you do)
That's hearing my new partner
First going to the loo
I'm wedded to my wardrobe
Some might say attached
I look inside occasionally
To see what new it's catched
Hello? What is that grey thing
Hanging in the corner
By gosh! it's my old wedding suit
It's not my funeral mourner
I need and try declutter
And read up on this skill
The trouble is I'm beaten
I like to watch it fill
My poem is disjointed
I do apologise
My life has been disjointed
Full of laughter, cries

FATHER OF THE BRIDE (by Brian Maryon)
The wedding is costing a packet
and I'm having to pay for it
People might think I'm a tit
But I don't mind one little bit
I'll just take it out of my bottomless pit
The wedding speech is writ
and if some heckling git
tries to give me any shit
and telling me to quit
I'll disarm him with my sparkling wit

To solve the unable-to-do-two-likes problem I'm gonna split each in half (like you would a chocolate bar) and do the nice poet-share bit....?
