Get to Know Me
If you’re a poet prowling in penumbral light,
Staggering through shadows alone and lost,
Praying for a spiritual Sherpa to
Take you to atmospheric heights,
Or at least pull you from chasmic depths
And save you from the crushing pressure
Of self-loathing and free floating anxiety,
You should get to know me.
If your addictions are afflictions
You can no longer bear and your
Health scares are a constant underlying
Source of terror as you go about your day.
If love has eluded you, and you feel you may
Be unlovable, untouchable, unfinished,
And drifting with neither muse nor guide,
You should get to know me.
You should become familiar with my hallowed ways.
You should follow where the angels choose to tread.
With me you are at the end of a long good night,
Because I am the path, the way, the light.
I am the one who will make meaning of you.
I can make your entire existence worthwhile if you,
Just get to know me.

Thanks for the kind words. Penumbral is a wonderful word that I most assuredly use too often.
