A Walk in the Snow (Response)
The breath frosts in front of her face
As she shuffles through the snow
Under a bridge for some kind of shelter
She couldn't find a better place.
She sits and shivers as the snow piles high
She doesn't have a better place to go
And she needs to stay warm, needs to stay dry
The lights on the streets say it's Christmas
But to her it's just another day
Another fight for survival, no time for seasons cheer
She's been out on the street so long,
she knows no other way
The snow falls heavy and she shudders in her clothes
Feeling the bite of the cold in her fingers, on her nose
She wishes she was wrapped up warm and cosy and tight
Safe from the chill of the cold Christmas night
She dreams of a home, of a warm fireplace
A place where she could settle and feel the heat on her face
Instead of sitting out on a cold and frosty night
And praying that she'll see it through
Until the Christmas morning light.
