Can the Vice be Broken

Can the Vice be Broken

Am I crazy or is my perspective distorted

does civilisation advance into a new age of enlightenment

Are we more erudite or compassionate than before

or have we fooled ourselves or been fooled

Schools, academies and places of learning abound

people hanker after learning and to be taught

Science brings new cures and two worlds wars become history

is this the dawn of great advances for humanity

Have new thinkers, philosophers and writers come amongst us

as people all over the world interract on the internet

We travel to embrace one anothers cultures

to learn new languages and form bonds of friendship

Are we more tolerant than those who went before us

I wonder as my mind and heart are deeply troubled

Can it be that powerful world leaders once more prepare for war

that nuclear war heads are being stockpiled for possible annihilation

How can the abused so readily become the abuser

why are people dispossessed or demeaned by virtue of their identity

Perhaps our advance has suffered an impediment

as the corrupt and powerful with their media plan our ultimate destruction

I find your poetry has a solemn yet subliminal sense of an artist's humility, as well as the voice of a teacher and a student.

Keep that voice going strong, it can carry the best of us when wings couldn't. This poem has that same aura around it, and it shines brightly.

Well done on this, and your style in general. It is infectious, in a good way.?

Some very difficult questions. For all the progress made we have not travelled very far on the road to peace.
Great poem..?
