Complicated Man

I’m sitting in between everything

I haven’t got a defence

Clarity of argument; I sit on the fence

Like a remainer without passion

I watch the world pass by

Happy in the moment that I didn’t even try

To oppose the inevitability of a right-wing slant

I get really tired sometimes of benevolent rant

Where everybody else sits and where I fit

Why should I care for folks’ ups and downs?

What makes them laugh?

And what makes them frown?

It’s what I do, it’s what I am

A self-deprecating complicated man.
