When Convention Takes a Hike

When Convention Takes a Hike

I sense your hesitation

I hear your silent frown

Immune I am to most of this

Feet firmly on the ground

You asked was I a writer?

What did I write about?

Rhyme, but good, I did reply

That's been my writing route

'Route' to 'route' (Americanised)

A language twist I like

Creative rhyme it will come out

When convention takes a hike

Don Matthews November 2018

As long as we allow convention to govern us

we will never make progress” (Don Matthews)
