If Only
Away. Forgotten. Wrapped in time.
A wicked smile, fate's gestures, fading,
Unspoken words, not yours, not mine,
That cannot soothe the pain of waiting.
Far in the sea, up in the sky,
Stars look away like little sinners,
And life goes on, and life goes by,
A brand new day for the beginners.
And every spring the trees will grow,
And each and every day repeating,
There will be sun, there will be snow,
And love and hate again competing.
These joyful songs I hear no more,
I scream, I beg, they keep on talking,
They do not know, they close the door,
They turn around and keep on walking.
I do not know how they can breathe
Through sands of time that dust my years
I do not know how they can live
Without your smile, without my tears
And if you only took the chance
To hold my hand that rainy evening.
God’s wicked smile, fate's trembling dance.
Could there have been a new beginning?
