Caged
CAGED
The pain within too much to bear
Searching for hope but it’s never there
How long can one hold on before
The scars inside even the score
No way out except the certain
No longer to endure the endless hurting
Wings exchanged for heavy chains
Locked in place, no escape from pain
Cries for help, go unnoticed
Ears deafened to selfish notions
Like a volcano, the pressure builds
Anger, resentment, hate just fills
Heart fills with endless rage,
Like a bird locked in a cage,
Watching the other birds fly freely in the sky
While I am trapped, locked up and ready to die
A blackened heart that lost its glow
Ready to stop, to just let go
With the gun aimed to my head
It will all be over soon…once I’m dead
Then I’ll be free to fly high above
The chains that once held me like a glove
To bask in the sweetness of freedom’s air
I can almost taste it…I’m almost there
The hard part is over,
The battle is won
As I fall to the ground,
What’s been done is done
A blackened heart that lost its glow
Slows its beat till it beats no more…
