After they have burned all of the flags

and torn down all the monuments

and we have nothing left

to remind us of who we were

we will forget our fathers and

be set adrift on dangerous seas

with no pole or sun

to guide us

we do not know where we are going

or where we will end up

we cannot say we are

because there's no trace

of who we were.
