Through Van Gogh's eyes

Through Vincent's eyes

the sunflowers radiant and mellow

shine through the murkiness

of the temporal world

his spirit rises above the earthly plane

beyond where the prosaic lies,

into a world of the sublime

where the heavenly riches

of bountiful dreams meet the

reality of the canvas.

A beautiful scene from

a mind so clear its visions

stretch beyond the limits

of the biological bounds,

and into the realms

where the soul takes over

and its kingdom reigns supreme.

Hi Jennifer (Sorry I haven't replied before) and Rose, thanks for the comments. I wrote this after watching 'At Eternity's Gate' with William Dafoe. I loved it.

Hi Jon-firstly cheers matey for all of your past support. I love this poem and what a great loss he was to the world of art. The film jennifer refers to is the one starring Kirk Douglas as Vincent. If you haven't seen it do so, brilliant film!

catch you later dude.

Really liked this. Presumably you saw the film? The photography was fantastic, also the actor who played Vincent. I didn't know that there was any suspicion of his being accidentally shot, as in the film version. Beautiful, moving language.

Jon
Your thoughtful poem is beautiful.
I wish we had a 'like very much' button, I would press it several times.
