What is life?

Life is  a fabrication of palatable lies.

Swimming through consciousness,

Shoaling like fish, open mouthed,

We take in all that we can swallow.

Hallucinating a fragile reality

Clinging to shreds

Pulling at threads

Holding our heads

We long for dignity.

Pulled to the earth

From a home in the sky

Spinning between birth and death

Eyes tightly closed

We swallow lie after lie

Searching for sweetness

Finding only the dry wafer

The bitter wine.

That is an extremely astute observation Hazel, really cleverly written but my favourite lines:

We swallow lie after lie

Searching for sweetness

Finding only the dry wafer

The bitter wine.

The dry wafer and bitter wine, that sums up a large portion of belief for me.
